The author, Keith Wardell, was a well-known fire service enthusiast who possessed an encyclopaedic knowledge of fire brigades, fire engines and much more. Keith was a very accomplished photographer and many of his photographs are included in this book. Each image is accompanied by a note from Keith, ranging from a piece of technical knowledge to a personal story associated with the appliance. Sadly, Keith died in 2009.
